Friday, Dec. 6, 2013

PTRC is pleased to announce the signing of an asset transfer agreement with the Saskatchewan Power Corporation. This agreement marks the successful conclusion of negotiations and secures the transfer of Aquistore’s monitoring equipment and associated physical assets to SaskPower.

PTRC will continue to manage the world-leading Aquistore research associated with the carbon dioxide (CO2) measurement, monitoring, and verification program. This research will support SaskPower’s operations associated with the Boundary Dam Integrated Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) Demonstration Project.

The physical assets being transferred include a unique injection well which will be utilized for the permanent geological storage of CO2; a heavily equipped monitoring well which will track, measure, and verify injected CO2; and, an extensive and cutting-edge permanent seismic array. SaskPower will manage the injection operations and continue to provide oversight and leadership.

Bringing together science and industry, Aquistore and SaskPower will help reduce carbon dioxide emissions and contribute to securing Saskatchewan’s energy future.
